Soybeans: Quality Characteristics for Wholesale

Soybean quality control

The soybean wholesale business is complex, where quality can make the difference between profit and loss. As one of the most important agricultural commodities worldwide, soybeans are used in the food industry, feed production and increasingly in plant-based protein manufacturing. But what should B2B buyers look for?

Protein Content – The Most Important Quality Characteristic

Protein content is the decisive factor in evaluating soybeans. Premium quality starts at a protein content of 34% and can reach up to 40%. For the feed industry, high protein content is essential as it directly affects feed efficiency. For food production (tofu, soy milk, soy protein), soybeans with at least 36% protein are preferred. At Adama Global Trade GmbH, we standardly deliver soybeans with a protein content of 34–40%, depending on origin and variety.

Moisture Content

Moisture content should be a maximum of 13%. Higher values increase the risk of mold formation during transport and storage. Our soybeans are tested for moisture before shipping and comply with international standards (max. 12–13%). For long-term storage, we recommend a moisture content below 12%.

Foreign Matter and Purity

Professional soybean quality means a maximum foreign matter content of 2%. This includes stones, soil, other grain kernels and damaged beans. At Adama, we guarantee a purity of at least 98% – often even higher. Each batch undergoes quality control before shipping.

GMO vs. Non-GMO

In Europe, demand for non-GMO soybeans is particularly high, as genetically modified foods require labeling. We offer both conventional and organic soybeans, all with corresponding certificates. Our non-GMO soybeans come mainly from Brazil, India and Ukraine.

Countries of Origin and Their Characteristics

Brazil is the world's largest soybean producer, delivering consistent quality in large volumes. US soybeans often have a higher oil content. Indian soybeans are frequently non-GMO and are particularly suitable for the European market. Ukrainian soybeans offer good value for money with solid quality.

Packaging and Delivery

In soybean wholesale, container deliveries (20ft or 40ft) are the standard. However, we also offer big bags (1,000 kg) and pallets with 25kg bags. The choice of packaging depends on your storage capacity and further processing. Our logistics experts are happy to advise you on the optimal delivery form.

Pricing

The soybean price per tonne is traded on international commodity exchanges (CBOT) and fluctuates depending on harvest season, weather conditions and global demand. As a wholesaler, we offer you competitive prices with the option to fix prices for future deliveries. Contact us for a current quote.

Conclusion

When buying soybeans wholesale, protein content, moisture, purity and GMO status are key. At Adama Global Trade GmbH, you get certified quality from the best growing regions in the world – with transparent pricing and reliable Europe-wide delivery.
